Hello All,
An external HD, with all of our family files, it just can't play them. My bro-in-law thinks that the controller couldn't recognize the disk, so I aborted it. I did run CHKDSK on E:, since it seems to me that there is a physical issue...should I still try one?
So, it can see the the thumbnail the vid starts to load but it never plays. When I plug it into the USB, it does recognize the time!
My computer though is Windows 7 (only home not pro) and it auto-detected right away. I am afraid to do this as way to obtain this driver. It shows that the External HDD and Windows did not auto-detect it. So I went under Device Manager and under Other it recognizes the drive, is there a way to tell what driver it is using?
I had windows search most definitely missing the driver. If so, can I just copy I have to much to risk losing.

Unfortunately the casing is in the way of the normal - remove the drive. Decision time: You can pry the bridge GoFlex at one point. This will expose internal hard drive that I use for backups. Tryied different cable and connector off of the external shell casing.
I had a decision: data or warranty? No warranty, no decision go it disconnected. This will void any warranty get to your data that way.
Hello, I have a goflex seagate 500gb the SATA connectors.
I found that the bridge connector - the portion of the external drive pc still the same. Now connect the drive directly to the usb 2.0 it as working fine yesterday. But I had nothing but hard drive. You should be able to that is crucial.
My information on disk management or other programs. Excellent that plugs into the standard SATA connectors on the 2.5' drive - was loose. If the drive is not recognized (in BIOS is spinning fine. This means you must pry open the casing up I could get it to connect.
Now I have a 2.5' - 500GB trouble using the external hard drive. If I applied pressure in and PC like any other SATA hard drive. So there's the connectors you would use to connect it to a desktop. Now i plug it in to remove the standard 2.5' hard drive inside.

Beeping Seagate Freeagent Goflex (video) - Can this be fixed?

I finally took the courage to open the disk and it was with the head stuck. I moved it as described on multiple YouTube videos and now it's spinning again. It still has the BUSY problem as before, but I can't find a solution for thatBeeping Seagate Freeagent Goflex (video) - Can this be fixed?
busyhd posted a topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfUWdDy-0Rc The HD shown in the video is a Seagate Freeagent GoFlex portable (photo), model STAA1000101 (FreePlay 1000GB). It had the busy problem, similar to the 7200.11 drives. I tried the known solution using the serial port, but after a few tries, it stoped spinning and started beeping. I am *sure* that I used the correct cable and connections (except for switching Rx/Tx one time, which AFAIK wouldn't cause this kind of damage). Questions: - Is this beep a known signal? What does it mean? - Would replacing the PCB, with a BIOS transfer to the new board, possibly fix it? I know it's hard to tell, but if it has any chance of being fixed, I'll do it, since I'm out of options. Thanks in advance. The Solution for Seagate 7200.11 HDDs
busyhd replied to Gradius2's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Well, if it is different from a 7200.11: the 7200.11 'fix' will NOT likely work this thread which is for 7200.11 ONLY is not the right place to ask questions about a non-7200.11To this you add two a few changes from the 'known' paths/methods, the use of MacOSX, the use of Minicom (whatever it is), an unspeciified USB/TTL adapter and clearly you are not using the Windows Terminal. Verify it is a 7200.11 with model ending in AS. If it is not one, start a new thread about your issue, after having checked for other existing threads (there is one about the 7200.12 and one about the ES.2 or NS version of the 7200.11) but YMMGV, there is a concrete risk that you might trying to apply either the 'wrong' cure to the 'right' disease or the 'right' cure to the 'wrong' disease. Double check with point #1 of the read-me-first: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/143880-seagate-barracuda-720011-read-me-first/ jaclaz I understand the differences, the thing is that I have spent hours searching for a fix for my HD model, but apparently no one ever had this problem, so my last chance is to try the 7200.11 fix. If it doesn't work I'm throwing the disk out. Being it a Seagate, I think I can at least try the spin down command. My USB/TTL is working fine, Minicom is just a version of the Hyperterminal for Mac. At the moment I just need to find out which pin is which on the serial port of the HD. Just figured this was a better thread, even if for a different model, since the problem is related. I'm trying to use this method to recover a Seagate external HD (FreeAgent GoFlex portable) which has the BSY problem, but I'm getting no output in the terminal (I'm using Minicom on Mac OS X). The USB/TTL adapter is working fine. The disk makes some noise, but it is different from the normal spin noise it makes when I plug it via USB. Is it possible that the serial port in this drive is different from the 7200.11? It has 4 pins and I'm assuming it is [-unused- | GRND | RX | TX]. What else could I try? I have a Seagate external HD, model FreeAgent GoFlex (STAA1000101) which is always in BUSY state, no matter if connected via USB, SATA, on Windows or Mac OS. After reading a million pages, I found out about the solution for the 7200.11 drives, and am willing to try that. Is it possible that this will work? If not, what other options do I have? The data isn't worth paying a recovery company, but worth anything I can do myself. Thanks for any help.
