Bobby Graham
(b. Robert Neate 11.3.1940 Edmonton, North London, d. 14.9.2009)
Of all the session drummers of the 1960’s Bobby Graham was the best rock drummer.
And the most influential too, since he played drums on so many popular pop and beat hits
during his active period 1963-1967.
He was also one of the first ones to use plastic skins on the drum set. His regular Carlton set
also had 3 tom toms, which was not the standard of those days in London.
This made his playing more versatile and colourful compared to other session drummers.
Bobby Graham played drums on sessions for example: The Kinks, Them, The Pretty Things,
Bobbie Graham Drummer
Dave Clark Five and he was used as a drummer for many solo artists too: PJ Proby, Dusty
Springfield. Tom Jones.
Here is a rare clip of Bobby Graham from 1965, when he joined other drummers for a scene in the
Gonks Go Beat movie.
